For our anniversary this year (2010) we decided to spend the night in Mukilteo, on the water. The town is small, the economy dependent on Boeing and tourism and the ferry system. It's pretty, with waterfront views to die for. We stayed at a waterfront hotel and I managed to get a lot of pictures (and video--which will be forthcoming soon) in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, Ivars and I disagreed and due to a food allergy reaction, we ended up coming home early. But we did have a wonderful day and hope you enjoy the pictures.

Interesting notes: there were scuba divers in the water all day down below our window, and into the night. We left at midnight when I got sick and they were still there. Upon examining one of the pictures I took (in the bottom row, talks about jellyfish), I believe I figured out why: I think I captured the jellyfish coming in on the tide in that picture. In the shot that's not resized (too big to conveniently put up on site) they're easier to see, but you can see them if you click on the thumbnail below--faint whitish globes.

The hotel is right near the ferry that goes over to Clifton on Whidbey Island. So we were hearing and seeing the ferries come in and out every hour on the hour. Was kind of nice. I wish we could have stayed longer but the food allergy attack really messed me up. Down by the waterfront. Boaters: the 1st day of
the official boating season
Beachcombers Rocky shore: typical of
Washington beaches.
Washington Ferry.  Speed boat & Ferry.

Boaters on the Inlet. Looking across Possession
Bay at Whidbey Island
Whidbey Island Typical Washington shore We have a lot of rocks.  Driftwood, too.

Great set up in hotel room.  Nice hotel, too.   Hanging out the window
at the hotel.
Scuba divers! Right below
the hotel.
More scuba divers
heading toward the water.
We weren't sure what
they were doing during
the day...

A pier to the right of
the hotel. Note the water
level during afternoon.
Ferry coming in. Looks
like it's heading right
for us but it veered off
to the left.
Ferry getting closer!  Different type of boater!  Another speed boat!  Nice, right? Gas fireplace
leaked noxious fumes. Had
to turn off and air out room.

View looked out over the
pier pictured above.
Just staring out at the
water.
Love listening to the
crashing of the waves.
Hanging out of window,
looking down past the
walkway around the hotel.
Note water level.
Tide starting to come in.  Waves whipping up
as afternoon wears on.

Was trying to get
the wave action.
Note the water levels
starting to rise on the
pier (see picture up
above for comparison)
Tide is in-see the
water levels on the pier?
Looking down at where
the shore above had
been. Note globes in
water: think they're
jellyfish that com in
on the tide.
Another shot of the
high tide.
Sun is setting to the west
(to our left).
