Lake Sammamish State Park is located near Issaquah, WA, and Bellevue WA. The park has 512 acres, over 6800 feet of waterfront, and was an important Native American focal point for centuries. The park includes wetlands, Issaquah Creek--a salmon bearing creek, a blue heron rookery and is available for use as a boat launch and for day use. The word Sammamish comes from the N.A. word 'Samena' or 'hunter.' (Information courtesy of the WA State Parks site, public domain). Mammals include everything from chipmunks to deer, birds--from herons to owls to crows, and a diverse variety of plants make up the ecosystem of the park/lake. Lake Sammamish is a day park and closes at dusk.
