Even More Book News

Well, it’s been an interesting past few weeks.

So after my post from the other day, (I posted in my Facebook group about the new Otherworld Series, which I will call Otherworld Unleashed, as well as here) I have to say, I’m overwhelmed by the response. I knew people missed the sisters, but I didn’t know how much.

It’s an odd double-edge sword being well-known for one series. There was always part of me that felt like I’d only be known for that — that my readers wouldn’t want anything else. Oh, I did know, on one level, that people loved my other work and that helped a lot, but it didn’t sink home until asked week.

I was thinking about it, and realized that every best-selling author it who writes series is known for one in particular, no matter how much other work they write. And once I realized that it wasn’t just me, it was okay. I realized that’s just the way things are.

And I am so grateful that my work, all of it, including Otherworld, has helped and entertained so many people. I think also, the struggle to get my rights back has made it difficult for me to think about the series over the years.

And when the pirates forced me to release my copies of the books I do have back, I actually saw how much people still wanted to buy those books and read them. And that made me feel like maybe I wasn’t done with the series yet.

So, yes, I’m looking forward to revisiting Otherworld. While my style has changed, the fact is that the world they live in, and the sisters themselves, have not, and so it will be fun writing about them now, with the changes I’ve made in my own writing. And also, writing about them without having a publisher breathing down my neck about what I can and can’t include.

Another change I’m making is with the Fly By Night series.

I’m not sure when I’ll be revisiting it, but…

• A: I’m changing the series title. I don’t like the title–and realized it implies a seedy sense toward Alex’s business.
• B: since Berkeley still controls the rights to the second book, I’m going to remove Flight From Mayhem from the new series, pretend like it doesn’t exist, and when I decide to write more I will write a new book 2 and go from there. That way I can control the entire series for promotion and marketing. So the Fly By Night series is now the Dusk Till Dawn series. I may pull Shimmer and Alex into some of the new Otherworld books as well.

And a third announcement: I’m planning for a couple of Wild Hunt novellas this year, and a closely aligned series for the Wild Hunt to come. I’ll talk more about that later.

And yes, I’m also continuing the Shadow Blade series. As long as people keep enjoying and buying the books, I’m happy to write about Kyann.

This means that my paranormal women’s fiction is on the back burner for now. After the two novellas I’m writing for Moonshadow Bay, and Magic Happens, the PWF series will go into hibernation for a while.

I want to focus on expanding the Otherworld altaverse, and the Wild Hunt altaverse. And hopefully I want to build Shadow Blade’s world even further.
